This unit examines the impact of tourists on The Giza Pyramids. Students are to create a tourist management plan for the Giza Plateau and GIS their plan. They will then evaluate the environmental, social and economic impact of their plan.

China's pollution problems have global consequences. This unit examines acid rain in China. Isoline maps can be created from the acid rain data in the project. This can then be compared with power stations, population densities and satellite images.

Assessment for this unit will be a practical exercise.

This unit tracks major bushfires in 2006/07 summer season. It also uses State of the Environment 2006 data to examine fuel reduction and bushfires.

The unit examines the factors that impact on bushfires from the latest research. Satellite images have been geo-referenced.

This unit tracks Typhoons over the 2005 and 2006 seasons. The 2005 season affected the coast of China severely while the 2006 season caused numerous problems in the Philippines. This unit will allow the students to track future typhoon seasons in one of the most active regions in the world.

This unit examines historical influenza outbreaks around the world. It also uses the great World Health Organisation web site to obtain and plot Bird flu data, to understand the spread of this influenza.

The assessment piece will be a written report to the government including relevant maps.

This unit tracks the history of Cholera from 1997-2004. Using World Health Data this unit tracks the outbreaks of Cholera. It will also look at the history and possible solutions to slowing these outbreaks.

Australia is the second largest exporter of Uranium in the world next to Canada with only three working uranium mines.

John Howard has released the final report of the Government's review into nuclear energy, uranium mining and processing. The Australian institute of public policy has flagged fives sites in Australia for possible nuclear power plants.

This unit will examine the history and future of uranium in Australia.
